(1) Implant surgical procedures.

We perform all types of surgical implant procedures at our practice these include implant placement, sinus and bone grafting. Our team is well rehearsed with working in a sterile surgical environment. All treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic and can be accompanied by intravenous sedation for anxious patients.

We have facilities at the practice for using a number of different implant systems (Astra Tech, Endopore, 3i, Branemark and ITI Straumann). The use of different systems enables us to cope with any eventuality and also there is no compromise in the patient’s treatment with us being affiliated to one particular system.

This patient presented with failed endodontic and crown treatment on the upper centrals.
The radiograph shows poorly condensed root fillings and periapical radiolucencies on the roots. The post crown has been recemented on a number of occasions.
Radiograph shows excellent bone levels around the implant.
Two porcelain fused to gold crowns were cemented. The patient is extremely happy with the aesthetics and the overall treatment. The long-term prognosis of these implant retained crowns is excellent

(2) Restorative implant therapy
The restorative phase of treatment can be carried out at our practice unless instructed by the referring dentist. We have great experience in providing implant therapy from a single unit to full mouth implant retained crown/bridgework. However we positively welcome the participation of the referring dentist in the subsequent restorative phase. In addition we have a number of restorative implants kits, which the referring dentist is welcome to borrow.
Patient presented with a mobile bridge. Radiograph shows extensive periodontal problems around the distal retainer of the bridge. The maxillary sinus will prevent placement of implants in that area.
The bridgework was removed very easily, and the distal retainer has very short conical roots.
A sinus graft procedure was carried out. Radiographs show the grafted site that is ready for implants after six months.
Three Astratech implants were inserted into the site after sinus graft procedure had been carried out.
Three units of splinted crowns were cemented and the patient was extremely pleased with the result. This picture was taken two years post treatment.

Bone and Sinus Grafting
All types of bone grafting procedures from using guided bone regenerative techniques to block bone grafting (Chin or ramus of mandible) is also carried out at the practice. When using these techniques the patient is usually sedated for a more comfortable procedure. Sinus grafting is also carried
out where there is limited bone volume in the posterior maxilla to place implants.
(3) Sinus graft procedure
BEFORE
The patient requested implant therapy in the upper left quadrant. Due to inadequate bone volume to place implants a sinus graft procedure was carried out.
AFTER
Result show two Astratech implants and the extent of sinus augmentation is clearly seen. The restorative phase will be carried out by the referring dentist.
(4) Ridge augmentation
BEFORE
Due to inadequate ridge width, this patient was referred for bone augmentation prior to implant therapy. A ridge augmentation procedure was carried out using a mixture of autogenous bone and xenograft (Bio-oss) together with a titanium reinforced membrane.
AFTER
The ridge has been augmented so that the implant therapy can then be carried out by the referring dentist.
